Thanks, that addressed that issue.  I'm confused about the build 
instructions though, the documentation says:

Slony-I normally needs to be built and installed by the PostgreSQL Unix 
user.

I'm assuming that the slony executables will be placed in system 
directories, therefore requiring 'make install' by root?
