We haven't seen this happen thus far; people have historically tended
to bring in proposed changes via the "here's some patches I got using
diff" approach.

It's doubtless going to be easier for us to draw changes in from your
GitHub repo, so your approach seems perfectly fine to me, especially
if it involves modifications to a number of files.

I should probably take a peek at this later in the week; a good place
to go next would be to review your changes in place, and add comments
to the patches if there's anything that seems controversial.  From
what you're describing, the changes sound generally reasonable.
