I tried using WAIT FOR EVENT (origin=ALL, confirmed=ALL, wait  
on=<new_master>) and again using (origin = <new_master>,  
confirmed=ALL, wait on=<new_master>), but these didn't seem to do  
anything to alleviate the effects of the race condition.
