Grr. Neither of these can work, as generating the cluster name doesn't take place inside a function. I could, in principle, add in a function that would be called by several of the "front line" Slony-I config functions (I'd think that those that stand behind STORE NODE would be pretty suitable) that would complain bitterly if an invalid name was used.
