Well the good/bad news on this is that after installing 8.0.4
and slony 1.1.1 the failover scenario in which I had reproduced
the failed failover several times previously has failed. 
Or succeeded.  Whatever.

However I have a pg_dump of the third node of failed failover
from a previous effort.  If anyone is interested in having a
copy of this dump contact me offlist.
