It's definitely going to be ambiguous. - If you cut the interval, that should mean that subscribers will be a little more up to date - Cutting the interval means that there will be more SYNCs to process, which will involve somewhat more work - But cutting the interval means that each SYNC is likely to be smaller, so that each one will involve somewhat less work Quite a number of tradeoffs become visible just based on that set of considerations. Furthermore, you have not indicated what you mean by "performance," nor what metrics would be involved in determining what "optimum" means. None of which is at all obvious.
