If this is right, can > someone please explain why? No, you can create the target schema any way you want. Using pg_dump is just the easiest. All that is important is that the tables end up with the same columns and the target table has the correct primary key (afaik). -- "The only difference between political parties is which group of their friends will end up receiving your money."
