Well, there will be _some_ cost to running replication, but it's not 
evident that it will get directly in the way to hinder performance of 
your "Squid redirector."

If you're merely submitting queries against replicated tables, that 
doesn't add to the cost of replication.

It doesn't sound as though the scenario you are describing is one where 
Slony-I should "hurt" performance of the redirector.

If it's an important service, it would certainly warrant doing some 
performance testing so that you can get some concrete experimental 
results rather than just knowing some others "expect it to work OK."
