Peter, I just exported a tarball for 1.2.10 yesterday, and would like to
see about fixing remaining permissions problems.

If you have opportunity, could you take a peek at that tarball?  Devrim
Gunduz pointed out a need to purge some .cvsignore files; as far as I
can see, the permissions appear OK, but you have been very good at
locating issues with them in the past :-).
